The Litmus Fanuc CNC Generic Template allows customers to take full advantage of the predefined functions provided by the Fanuc Focas2 library. Instead of having to define each tag individually, for every Fanuc CNC device which supports the Focas2 library, the template creates a device, and all its tags in one action. Users can upload multiple templates for multiple devices.
Fanuc Focas is a library from Fanuc which is supported by many of their CNC controllers. It provides pre-built functions to return data from an asset running a Fanuc CNC controller. This makes it very simple to define tags, as every controller will always use the same "address" to return the same value, allowing for the use of templates. But due to the large number of potential functions, identifying and setting up the tags or templates can still require a lot of time.
Therefore, Litmus provides a ready-made template, which includes all the tags implemented by Litmus from the Focas2 library. This reduces the time customers have to spend for being able to read data from their Fanuc CNC assets.
Example Use Case
For customers who have CNC assets running Fanuc controllers with Focas2 support, the Generic template allows them to set up data collection from these assets by Litmus Edge with very little effort.
For example, this would allow customers to monitor the operational status, tool management, or alarms of their CNC assets.
The Litmus Fanuc CNC Generic Template makes use of the Fanuc Focas2 library, which is built by Fanuc and has a preset number of functions which return the data
Custom data are typically available as MACRO variable and have to be created by the customer or asset vendor. As they are different for every implementation, the Fanuc CNC Generic Template does not include MACRO variables
These can be added after the template is imported by the customer through the LE UI using DeviceHub
